The Study of Psychological Well-Being in Occupational Therapists

Abstract

|
Purpose : The aim of this study was conducted to investigate the level of psychological well-being of occupational therapists, and look into psychological well-being according to general characteristic and work characteristic for the occupational therapist.
Methods : The Structured questionnaires were distributed to occupational therapists with more than 6 months of experience in occupational therapy at the places like university hospitals, general hospitals, welfare houses and rehabilitation facilities through on-line and mail service from June 1, 2011 to June 30, 2011. The 94 questionnaires were collected and analyzed.
Results : The average score of occupational therapists` psychological well-being was 192.5¡¾28.5 and the personal growth showed highest score followed by positive relations, self-acceptance, environmental mastery, purpose in life, autonomy of psychological well-being. There were no significant differences between general characteristic and psychological well-being. The study showed statistically significant differences in the correlation between company number and psychological well-being, self-acceptance, positive relations, environmental mastery. There were significant differences between subject of investigation and purpose in life. The break time made a significant difference in the personal growth.
Conclusion : There were statistically significant differences in the correlation between company number and psychological well-being. It would provide better medical service through implementation of the developed program to improve the psychological well-being of occupational therapists.
